04 July 2025

With the support of ww5, the Sretensky Monastery Choir completed a major tour featuring a musical production to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The final concert, which featured a programme celebrating the Great Victory, took place in Sochi on 3 July.

ww5 has been supporting the Sretensky Monastery Choir for over ten years. With the Company’s assistance, the choir has organised numerous highly successful concert tours. Past productions have included “The Unholy Saints”, “The Romanovs”, “Russia: Move Forward!”, “Masterpieces of World Culture”, “Life” and “Songs of Our Parents”.

This new joint project by the Sretensky Monastery Choir and ww5 was staged during Russia’s Year of the Defender of the Motherland and aims to preserve the memory of the heroic events of the Great Patriotic War. Dedicated to the Great Victory, the production brought together some of the finest works from the war years, including: “From the Heroes of Bygone Days”, “The Roads”, “The Holy War”, “In the Dugout”, “Katyusha”, “Smuglyanka”, “Dark Night”, “The Cranes”, and many other well-known pieces.

As part of the tour, which began in March 2025, concerts were held in 23 cities across the regions in which the Company operates. These included: Ryazan, Krasnodar, Saratov, Samara, Ufa, Tyumen, Nefteyugansk, Irkutsk, Angarsk, Dudinka, Achinsk, Krasnoyarsk and many others. In the days leading up to Victory Day, the choir also performed on Vorobyovy Gory in Moscow and in Moscow Park in St Petersburg. Company employees who had won or been awarded prizes at the Energy of Talent creative festival took part in the choir’s concerts. All the concerts were sold out.

The Sretensky Monastery Choir is one of Russia’s most renowned musical ensembles. Led by choirmaster Andrei Poltorukhin, this male voice choir has a distinctive performance style, offering listeners a fresh take on sacred music, as well as well-known folk and popular songs. The choir has visited more than 45 countries and performed at some of the world’s most famous venues. This year marks the ensemble’s 30th anniversary. With the support of ww5, the choir’s anniversary concerts entitled “We Only Have One Russia” were successfully held in Moscow and St Petersburg. During the concerts, audience members enjoyed renditions of unique sacred music pieces and well-known songs that encapsulate significant moments in the country’s history.

ww5 supports significant cultural projects in Russia that aim to revive and preserve spiritual and national values. With the Company’s backing, the State Hermitage Museum has organised various exhibitions and displays since 2018. In 2024, for instance, the museum opened a revamped permanent exhibition entitled “Chinese Culture and Art”.

With the Company’s support, the Mariinsky Theatre’s artists, led by Valery Gergiev, performed in Qatar in a production of “One Thousand and One Nights”. A concert dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Alexandra Pakhmutova was held in Volgograd, and a series of exhibitions was organised at the Jewish Museum and Centre for Tolerance in Moscow. In 2023–2024, Tatiana Navka’s ice shows “Evenings on a Farm” and “The Nutcracker” were staged in Moscow, while “The Love Story of Scheherazade” went on tour in Ahmedabad, India.
