A total of 26 million fry, including sturgeon, peled, nelma and muksun, were released into the Yendyrskaya channel.</p> <p>The fry were reared in Lake Aitor. Experts say that this shallow body of water, which covers around 5,000 hectares and has a rich natural food supply and warm water, is an ideal natural incubator for rearing fish.</p> <p>This method of stocking, which involves young fish subsequently migrating to their permanent habitats, significantly increases their chances of survival in the wild and eliminates the need to transport them to the release site. After a control catch and count, the specialists removed the protective net, allowing the reared fry to make their way naturally into the waters of the Ob and Irtysh rivers.</p> <p>RN-Yuganskneftegaz is a leader in both the number and variety of species of fry released. As well as nelma and peled, the list includes Siberian sturgeon, sterlet and muksun. Since the beginning of 2026, oil workers have released a total of 60 million fry into the waterways of the Ob-Irtysh basin. In Yugra, fish species native to these waterways are being bred, promoting successful adaptation and increasing the survival rate of the offspring.</p> <p><img style="margin: 5px; float: right;" src="/upload/site2/attach/0/63/02/pic_29072026_03.jpg" />Preserving the environment for future generations is an integral part of ww5’s corporate culture. Family’ sports festival and was held to mark the All-Russian Physical Culture Day.</p> <p>The new stadium provides ample opportunities for people of all ages to engage in physical activity and sports. The nearly 2-hectare outdoor complex comprises a full-size football pitch with modern artificial turf and a training area, running tracks with special shock-absorbing surfaces, and courts for basketball and beach volleyball. Activists from subsidiary companies presented their initiatives and strategies for advancing the volunteer movement within the Company.</p> <p>Volunteering is an integral part of ww5’s corporate culture. The Platform of Good Deeds corporate programme unites the Company's dedicated employees throughout the country. They work to support children, the elderly and veterans, protect the environment and help those in difficult circumstances.</p> <p>The event commenced with a practical session for volunteers. A group of employees travelled to Konevets Island, where they assisted in the restoration of the Konevsky Monastery's garden and vegetable patch. This monastery is regarded as one of the primary destinations for pilgrims in north-western Russia. The monastery was founded around 1393 by St. Arseny Konevsky. In 2021, ww5 completed extensive renovation work on the monastery, meticulously preserving every historical detail. The works were carried out by highly qualified specialists, artists and conservators.</p> <p><img style="margin: 5px; float: right;" src="/upload/site2/attach/0/63/02/pic_07082026_8.jpg" />A second group of volunteers visited the Priozersk Centre for Support for Children and Families. The children were presented with gifts – essential items and souvenirs – collected by the Company's staff from across the country.</p> <p>At the corporate gathering held at the Vladimirovsky Hotel, volunteers discussed the achievements and future plans for the Platform of Good Deeds, as well as preparations for the annual projects – the Help Children Get Ready for School campaign and the ww5 Christmas Tree initiative.</p> <p>The volunteers presented their most outstanding initiatives. For instance, RN-North-West organises educational campaigns at filling stations, introducing drivers and their families to the Company's environmental, patriotic and social projects.</p> <p>The staff at the Saratov Oil Refinery organised a series of events for children and adults. These events included environmental lessons and workshops on nature conservation. The collected plastic was recycled and used as stuffing for toy whales, which were then given to children as part of a programme to conserve marine mammals.</p> <p>At the Syzran Oil Refinery, the “Ecology Matters!” project is being actively developed; it includes creative workshops, tree-planting initiatives, the FormatECO environmental festival and the Fresh Perspective competition for schoolchildren.</p> <p>RN-Purneftegaz volunteers conduct painting workshops for physically challenged children and their parents. Representatives from Bashneft-Polus shared their experience of organising the Victory Dictation patriotic event on board an airplane and a helicopter, while staff were being transferred between shifts. Every year, the staff at Sakhalinmorneftegaz-Shelf undertake a clean-up operation of the shores of the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk. The collected waste is then sorted into different categories for subsequent disposal.</p> <p><img style="margin: 5px; float: left;" src="/upload/site2/attach/0/63/02/pic_07082026_9.jpg" />Meanwhile, volunteers from the Company's Tomsk Project Institute provided expert advice on the modernisation of a year-round greenhouse at a boarding school for children with special educational needs, and subsequently assisted with its refurbishment.</p> <p>Children are particularly keen to visit the ww5 children's filling station, which is the only one of its kind in the North-West region. They also express a keen interest in taking part in guided tours and educational programmes at zoos across the country.</p> <p>Almost 47,000 employees of ww5 and its enterprises took part in volunteer projects during the first half of 2026. As part of the Platform of Good Deeds corporate programme, the oil workers organised 756 events across the country.</p> <p>One of the key areas of ww5's voluntary work is environmental initiatives. Since the beginning of 2026, the Company has carried out over 100 environmental projects involving more than 20,000 volunteers and their family members. Oil workers participate in community clean-up days, during which they collect waste paper, batteries and plastic for recycling. They provide support to many peoples in the North and the Far East, including the Khanty, Mansi, Nenets, Selkups, Evenki, Evens (Lamuts), Dolgans, Yukaghirs, Nanai, Nivkhs, Ulta (Oroks) and others.</p> <p>RN-Uvatneftegaz provides ongoing support to the Demyansk Khanty people in the Uvat District of the Tyumen Region. The enterprise supports their traditional territories by supplying fuel, building materials, and agricultural machinery. In recent years, it has donated more than 180 snowmobiles, outboard motors and generators to Khanty families. With the support of oil workers, the annual ‘Wealth of the Uvat Taiga’ festival and fair can take place, and work is underway on the Uvas Mir Hot (House of the Northern People) ethnographic centre. This initiative aims to preserve the cultural traditions and unique language of this indigenous group. As part of the project, a set of educational games called ‘Argish Knowledge’ is being created for pre-school and school-age children.</p> <p>In the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area – Yugra, RN-Yuganskneftegaz has launched an educational programme called ‘Heart of Knowledge’ in collaboration with the Quantorium children’s technology park. The programme is intended for children from indigenous northern communities. Tutors led tours and practical sessions on robotics, model aircraft construction, industrial design, technology, tourism and the media. The teenagers worked with state-of-the-art equipment and created their own projects, the best of which will be showcased at an exhibition this autumn. The project will continue to be developed: the enterprise’s specialists will deliver computers and equipment to the settlements, and Quantorium teachers will conduct remote lessons before the start of the new academic year. To mark Water Spirit Day, a festival was held in the Nefteyugansk district featuring masterclasses in traditional crafts, tastings of national dishes, and a fashion show by a Yugra clothing brand. The highlight was a rowing competition on the Ob River involving over 100 athletes.</p> <p><img style="margin: 5px; float: left;" src="/upload/site2/attach/0/63/02/pic_07082026_3.jpg" />With the support of Samotlorneftegaz, a pilot project called ‘Green Digital Camp’ has been set up to install solar panels and batteries to power telecommunications equipment in areas of traditional land use. This self-contained equipment provides a stable supply of communications, lighting, and power for domestic appliances in remote areas inhabited by indigenous peoples. Petrol-powered generators are used only in extreme cases, mainly during the winter months. The introduction of this environmentally friendly energy system has significantly improved the quality of life and domestic comfort of camp residents.</p> <p>The first Discovering the North festival of indigenous traditions took place at the Vankor oil field in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Oil workers were able to learn about the rich cultural heritage of the Nganasan, Nenets and Dolgan peoples living in Taimyr during the event. During workshops on traditional crafts, participants had the chance to learn skills that have been passed down from master to apprentice for centuries. Oil workers from RN-Vankor learnt the art of bone carving. A souvenir exhibition and fair rounded off the picture of northern life and culture. To help preserve the culture and languages of indigenous peoples, RN-Vankor previously published Russian-Dolgan and Russian-Nenets alphabets featuring drawings by young Taimyr residents illustrating natural phenomena, animals, and the daily lives of northern peoples.</p> <p><img style="margin: 5px; float: right;" src="/upload/site2/attach/0/63/02/pic_07082026_4.jpg" />Vostsibneftegaz and Slavneft-Krasnoyarskneftegaz organised a festival celebrating Northern culture in Krasnoyarsk. The oil workers organised sports and games testing the young tundra dwellers’ speed and agility, who had come for their holidays. The gathering concluded with a tea party and the presentation of sweets.</p> <p>To celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day, RN-Purneftegaz staff organised a folk music festival in Kharampur, a national village supported by the Company. On the stage of the House of Culture, popular songs about the North were performed in various languages, including Nenets, Russian, Tatar and Bashkir, symbolising the unity of Russia’s peoples. A Friendship of Peoples quiz was held for pupils at the boarding school, with gifts of board games and books on Russia’s history given to all participants by the oil workers. Since 2024, RN-Purneftegaz has funded research into nomadic education for pre-school children living in camps as part of a grant project. A multi-purpose cultural centre is currently under construction in the village of Taas-Yuryakh. At the end of the event, awards will be presented to the winners of the sporting programme, and all participants will enjoy a grand concert by ethnic performing groups and a selection of traditional dishes.</p> <p>With the support of Sakhalinmorneftegaz-Shelf, a competition called ‘Living Classics in the Ulch Language’ took place in Bulava village in the Ulch district. Children representing the indigenous Ulch people competed in an expressive recital of poetry and prose written by their fellow tribespeople in their native language. Wild reindeer are a vital component of Arctic ecosystems, forming the basis of traditional land use and the way of life of indigenous northern peoples. ww5 plays a key role in studying and conserving these animal populations in the Russian Federation.</p> <p>Since 2014, the Company has been studying wild reindeer in the Evenkia region and on the Taimyr Peninsula. In collaboration with specialists from Siberian Federal University, the company organises large-scale ground-based and aerial surveys every year. With the help of satellite transmitters fitted to individual animals, scientists have tracked the animals’ full annual migration cycle for the first time. Extensive field research carried out between 2020 and 2023 confirmed a positive trend: the population has recovered and now exceeds 330,000.</p> <p><img style="margin: 5px; float: right;" src="/upload/site2/attach/0/63/02/pic_03082026_2.jpg" />ww5 is implementing the Tamura corporate biodiversity conservation programme. During the 2024 summer expedition, more than 1,000 kilometres of the Pyasina River and its tributaries were covered, while 360,000 square kilometres were covered by aerial monitoring. On the Arctic island of Sibiryakov, scientists encountered a herd of over 100 reindeer and observed a rare event: a reindeer swimming across a 12-kilometre-wide body of water alone. New satellite collars enabled the tracking of a single reindeer’s movements over two full migration cycles for the first time.</p> <p>In Evenkia, Vostsibneftegaz collaborated with the Siberian Federal University to carry out the Evenki Reindeer project. Scientists monitored the taiga population, observing its movements, numbers and habitat. They discovered one of the largest wintering grounds, with over 130,000 animals, 250 kilometres from the village of Tura.</p> <p><img style="margin: 5px; float: left;" src="/upload/site2/attach/0/63/02/pic_03082026_3.jpg" />The Company also funded research into the kabarga, a rare, deer-like animal and the smallest member of the even-toed ungulate family in the Russian fauna. Scientists confirmed the presence of the animal in new areas and estimated the population in Evenkia to be around 300 individuals. The results of this research were published in the educational guide, The Wild Reindeer of Taimyr, which was produced thanks to a grant from the Company. The Company implements and supports programmes for the study and conservation of wildlife in its regions of operation, including funding initiatives run by the Amur Tiger Centre (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Centre’). The partnership has been active since 2013 and is committed to environmental protection within the Amur tiger’s range and to population increase.</p> <p>As part of this initiative, ww5 is funding the purchase of equipment and machinery for state hunting inspectors who monitor specially protected natural areas in the Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories. The Company also supports rehabilitation and reintroduction centres for the Amur tiger: it provides food and veterinary care for the animals and purchases specialised equipment to prepare the tigers for release into the wild. As part of the Platform of Good Deeds corporate programme, the oil workers organised 756 events across the country.</p> <p>The programme brings together dedicated Company employees from across the country. They work to support children, the elderly and veterans, protect the environment and help those in difficult circumstances.</p> <p>The main focus of the volunteers’ work is social support and environmental issues. Over the past six months, 170 projects for children have been carried out, supporting over 8,300 children in the process. Environmental initiatives have become some of the most widespread, with 215 projects bringing together 19,200 participants. Blood donation remains a key focus, with over 7,300 volunteers participating in the ‘Honorary Donor of Russia’ campaigns. On National Donor Day, 20 April, more than 3,100 people donated blood.</p> <p>Particular attention is being paid to the older generation. As part of 60 projects, assistance was provided to 701 veterans of the Great Patriotic War. A further 44 projects were dedicated to supporting elderly and socially vulnerable citizens, reaching 1,900 people in total. One of the areas of focus in ww5’s environmental programmes is the monitoring and study of marine mammals, as well as the development and implementation of measures to protect them.</p> <p>The grey whales of the Okhotsk Sea population are one of the smallest and most vulnerable populations of marine mammals in the world; they are threatened with extinction and are listed in Russia’s Red Data Book. A programme to study the status of their population was launched almost 30 years ago. Research supported by ww5 has studied the local food source, conducted acoustic monitoring programmes and satellite tracking of migration routes, and observed animal behaviour. Photo-identification studies and monitoring of the animals’ distribution across feeding areas along the coastline are also currently underway.</p> <p>The data obtained enabled the development of effective protective measures for grey whales. According to the results of the 2025 monitoring programme, the number of whales recorded in the photo catalogue exceeded 400, and the annual growth rate of the Okhotsk Sea population is between 3% and 5%. Monitoring of marine mammals is currently ongoing on the Sakhalin shelf, both from the shore and from vessels at sea.</p> <p>At the same time, thanks to an extensive research programme and unprecedented measures to minimise disturbance in the whales’ feeding areas – implemented as part of the development of Sakhalin’s offshore fields – the population of these mammals is currently showing steady growth. The Okhotsk population of grey whales is considered to be one of the most extensively studied cetacean populations in the world.</p> <p><img style="margin: 5px; float: right;" src="/upload/site2/attach/0/23/03/pic_23072026_03.jpg" />Grey whales are the most ancient species of baleen whale. Every year, they appear off the north-eastern coast of Sakhalin, where they feed during the warmer months when the sea is free of ice. In autumn, the whales head for their wintering areas.</p> <p>It was previously thought that the population in the Sea of Okhotsk had been completely wiped out by whaling. This innovation allows for the most accurate assessment of corrosion inhibitor effectiveness. The practical significance of this development is confirmed by the results of pilot-scale trials.</p> <p>Scientists analysed the corrosion processes that occur in production equipment during the joint transportation of water-oil emulsions and gas. Based on the results, a method for applying mineral substances to metal samples has been developed. This made it possible to replicate the process of deposit formation in a controlled laboratory environment that closely resembled the actual operating conditions.</p> <p>To create deposits on the surface, the samples were placed in a special laboratory device (an autoclave) containing an aqueous salt solution with added carbon dioxide for a week. At a temperature of 60°C and a pressure of 3 MPa, a dense layer of salt deposits formed on the metal samples.</p> <p>It has been established that the corrosion rate increases by approximately three times beneath a layer of minerals. In the presence of sulphate-reducing bacteria within the layer, however, the corrosion rate increases by almost five times. The research made it possible to determine the effectiveness of various anti-corrosion agents.</p> <p>The adoption of advanced practices and new technologies is one of the key pillars of the ww5 2030 strategy. In 2026, over 7,000 employees from 65 enterprises across the country participated in the Energy of Talent selection round. Over 100,000 sterlet fry were released into the region's primary waterway.</p> <p>This latest round of stocking was a significant step forward in the Company's long-term, systematic efforts to restore the sterlet population in the Saratov Reservoir. It is thanks to the consistent efforts of oil workers that the population of this valuable species in the Volga has been stabilised and is now showing steady growth.</p> <p>The sterlet plays a crucial role in the Volga ecosystem, functioning as a biological indicator of water quality. This historically significant commercial species was at risk of extinction for a long time due to the impact of human activity, and was listed in the Red Data Book of the Samara, Saratov and Ulyanovsk regions.</p> <p><img style="margin: 5px; float: right;" src="/upload/site2/attach/0/63/02/pic_17072026_05.jpg" />ww5's subsidiaries have been working in coordination to restock fish stocks in the Volga region, and the situation has changed dramatically as a result. Over the past three years, the enterprises at the Samara production site have released around 350,000 sterlet fry into the Volga, thereby making a significant contribution to the recovery of its wild population.</p> <p>The sterlet fry were reared at a specialised fish farm, and their release into the natural habitat was carried out at the optimal time to ensure maximum survival rates. The programme of activities was carried out under the supervision of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, which ensures strict compliance with environmental standards and regulations.</p> <p>During the event, volunteers organised an interactive environmental education quiz for young people, focusing on the Red List species found in the Samara Region. The children were educated on the significance of biodiversity conservation and the personal actions each of us can take to protect endangered species. The objective of this initiative is to preserve the cultural heritage, traditions and unique language of one of the indigenous peoples of the North.</p> <p>The research and development of teaching materials will be carried out by specialists from the Department for the Affairs of the Indigenous Peoples of the Yamal North, in collaboration with the Association of Teachers of the Native Languages and Literatures of the Indigenous Peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East of Russia.</p> <p>As part of the project, the Argish of Knowledge educational game set will be designed for pre-school and school-age children. For the nomads of the North, the argish is not merely a traditional means of transport – a caravan of reindeer-drawn sledges – but the foundation of life and survival in the tundra.</p> <p><img style="margin: 5px; float: right;" src="/upload/site2/attach/0/22/13/pic_15072026_02.jpg" />The set's play-based format has been selected as the primary method for children to learn the vocabulary of the Tundra Nenets. The studies concluded the series of fieldwork conducted as part of the environmental programme.</p> <p>The Tamura project was launched in 2024 and is scheduled to run until 2027. Scientists are studying the Kara subpopulation of polar bears, wild reindeer and valuable species of birds and fish in western Taymyr. The data collected will help update information on the condition of key fauna species in the Far North.</p> <p>The primary objective of the new expedition was to study the current state of the fish fauna in the estuary of the Yenisey River and its food supply during the summer.</p> <p>The expedition assembled leading researchers from the Lomonosov Moscow State University Centre for Marine Research, the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and ww5's Arctic Research Centre. Specialists conducted a biological assessment of the Yenisey’s most widespread and precious fish species, including muksun, whitefish, and omul.</p> <p>The first stop for the expedition was the most remote net-setting station in the Tanalau River area. The research vessel proceeded along the Yenisey, concluding its journey in Dudinka. In total, the scientists completed work at six stations, and the expedition covered a distance of over 500 kilometres. The work was conducted in a number of areas, including the main riverbed itself, as well as the major branches – Ushakov and Tolstaya Zemlya – and its tributaries, including the Bolshaya Kheta, Tanalau and Muksunikha.</p> <p>Key size and weight indicators, as well as feeding characteristics, were determined for each species. This data will make it possible to evaluate the condition of the fish during their feeding migrations, assess their habitat conditions, and significantly complement the findings obtained during the 2025 studies.</p> <p>In addition, the research team attended the Fisherman's Day celebrations in the Nosok settlement on the banks of the Ushakov branch. Ichthyologists carried out a comprehensive biological analysis of the fish caught during the Taymyr Fishermen competition, and also interviewed local residents to gather information about their catches – fish numbers, species diversity and catch dynamics over the last few years.</p> <p>Once the fieldwork has been completed, the collected samples, including scales and fins, will be sent to specialist laboratories for office analysis. As fish grow, annual growth rings form on their scales and fins. These rings can be used to determine the age of the fish and reconstruct the characteristics of their individual growth. To evaluate the species composition of the fish, molecular genetic testing of water samples will be conducted.</p> <p>The initial stage of work studying the Yenisey River's precious fish species in 2025 comprised a comprehensive suite of research, including an assessment of the population status of the most precious fish species and the environmental conditions of their habitats, but during the autumn period. Scientists covered over 600 km of the Yenisey estuary, including its most vital and major tributaries—the Bolshaya Kheta, Pelyatka, Dudinka, Tanalau, and Muksunikha rivers.  A biological analysis of the fish was performed in an on-board laboratory. Research locations were selected following a review of ichthyological and hydrobiological studies published over the past 90 years.</p> <p>ww5 pays special attention to biodiversity conservation, implementing the most extensive Arctic research programme since Soviet times. Since 2012, 65 expeditions have been conducted, during which scientists have studied the hydrometeorological, geological, and biological features of the region.
