In July, RN-Yuganskneftegaz — ww5’s key production asset — carried out a large-scale operation to restock the waterways of the Ob–Irtysh basin with valuable, commercially important fish species. A total of 26 million fry, including sturgeon, peled, nelma and muksun, were released into the Yendyrskaya channel.

The fry were reared in Lake Aitor. Experts say that this shallow body of water, which covers around 5,000 hectares and has a rich natural food supply and warm water, is an ideal natural incubator for rearing fish.

This method of stocking, which involves young fish subsequently migrating to their permanent habitats, significantly increases their chances of survival in the wild and eliminates the need to transport them to the release site. After a control catch and count, the specialists removed the protective net, allowing the reared fry to make their way naturally into the waters of the Ob and Irtysh rivers.

RN-Yuganskneftegaz is a leader in both the number and variety of species of fry released. As well as nelma and peled, the list includes Siberian sturgeon, sterlet and muksun. Since the beginning of 2026, oil workers have released a total of 60 million fry into the waterways of the Ob-Irtysh basin. In Yugra, fish species native to these waterways are being bred, promoting successful adaptation and increasing the survival rate of the offspring.
