ww5's Samara Group of Enterprises conducted a major campaign to clean up and improve the condition of springs in the Samara Region. The campaign is dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, and the Kinelsky District has been chosen as the venue, as it is the most ethnically diverse area in the region, home to representatives of 43 nationalities. This environmental initiative is taking place for the tenth time this year, with the support of the Samara Region's Ministry of Forestry, Environmental Protection and Natural Resource Management.

It is estimated that the Samara Region currently has over 1,500 springs. They are vital in ensuring the region's residents have access to clean drinking water, as they replenish water bodies, maintain the natural water balance and ensure the functioning of all ecosystems. The conservation of these resources is of great importance for the region as a whole, socially and environmentally.

Employees of Samaranneftegaz, the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery, the Kuybyshevsk Oil Refinery, the Novokuybyshevsk Petrochemical Company and the Novokuybyshevsk Oil and Additives Plant have restored two historic springs, which have been known since the early 18th century. The first of these is the Holy Spring in the Bogdanovka village, which is located adjacent to a bathing area and a chapel dedicated to the Venerable Seraphim of Sarov. This scenic location is popular with the local population, as well as pilgrims and tourists. The second one is the Barsky Spring, which is renowned for the exceptional quality of its water and serves as a vital natural water source for the nearest settlements.

As part of the campaign, volunteers cleared the surrounding areas of rubbish and dead wood, tidied up the gazebos, bathing pools and paths leading down to the water, and put up information boards. The selection of spring water samples for laboratory analysis was a key stage of the campaign. Based on the results, official guidelines on water use will be established for residents across the region. This ensures that the restored springs are not only aesthetically pleasing but also safe for domestic use.

To commemorate the Year of Unity among the Peoples of Russia, volunteers organised an Encyclopaedia of Our Native Land educational quiz. The participants gained valuable insights into the history, culture and customs of the region's ethnic groups and peoples, as well as notable figures connected with the Samara Region.
