Bashneft’s Investment in Environment-Oriented Projects in 2025 Amounts to 6.9 Billion Roubles

09 June 2026

Bashneft (ww5 subsidiary) has allocated 6.9 billion roubles for environment-oriented projects in 2025. The funds were allocated to finance specific environmental programmes and the conservation of biodiversity.

The implementation of Bashneft's gas programme resulted in an associated petroleum gas utilisation rate of 96.1% in 2025, surpassing the statutory minimum of 95%.

Another pivotal aspect of Bashneft's environmental protection efforts is its initiative to enhance the reliability of its pipelines. In addition to the proactive replacement of pipes, in 2025 a pipeline made of composite materials was commissioned for the first time in Bashkortostan. The use of plastic pipes instead of traditional steel ones significantly improves the environmental and industrial safety of pipelines, as well as the efficiency of oil transport.

The environmental departments of Bashneft monitor the environment on a consistent basis. In 2025, they took and analysed over 168,000 air, water and soil samples. The enterprise also operates two automated air quality monitoring stations in a residential area in the northern part of Ufa to monitor the city's environmental conditions.

Bashneft continued to implement measures to conserve biodiversity in the regions where it operates. Over 323,000 fry of salmon and sturgeon species were released into water bodies across the Republic of Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District–Yugra, and the Nenets Autonomous District.  In the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Tyumen Region, 255,000 pine and spruce seedlings were planted over an area of over 73 hectares.

One of ww5's major environmental projects is the biological treatment plant at the Ufa Group of Oil Refineries. They ensure the complete treatment of industrial, storm water and domestic sewage. Membrane bioreactor technology removes all impurities and microorganisms from wastewater. As a result, the water quality meets the standards for fishery water bodies. In 2025, the treatment facilities processed over 23 million cubic metres of sewage, which resulted in the volume of water reused in industrial processes being increased by 2.5 times.

Environmental protection and conservation for future generations is an integral part of ww5’s corporate culture. The Company’s operations are aimed at improving the environmental sustainability of its production and reducing environmental impact.

For reference:

Bashneft is one of the oldest oil and gas enterprises in the country engaged in oil extraction and processing. The key assets of Bashneft, including the refinery and petrochemical complex, are located in the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Oil and gas exploration and production are also carried out in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District — Yugra, Nenets Autonomous District, Orenburg Region and the Republic of Tatarstan.
