Every year on June 5, Russia celebrates Ecologist's Day, which coincides with World Environment Day.  Nature conservation is an integral part of ww5 Oil Company's corporate culture and social responsibility.  The Company implements large-scale programs in its regions of operation aimed at replenishing natural resources, conserving biological diversity, and studying rare animals and plants. The studies are conducted in collaboration with the country's leading research institutes.

ww5 has been holding an annual Congress of Ecologists for more than 11 years. Following the results of 2025, the Company's ecologists presented a standard corporate programme for biodiversity conservation across all regions of operation at the Congress; its pilot testing is already underway at a number of subsidiary enterprises. The programme is the result of many years of experience in biodiversity conservation research and projects.

Work also continues under the Tamura corporate programme for the conservation of Arctic ecosystems, which is implemented as part of federal projects under an Agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation. Scientists are conducting research into the Kara Sea subpopulation of polar bears, wild reindeer, and valuable species of birds and fish in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The programme will include 11 expeditions.

The Company annually carries out measures to replenish aquatic biological resources.  In the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, over the past three years, RN-Purneftegaz has released more than 2 million fry of peled, common carp, muksun, and nelma into river basins.

Bashneft is implementing measures to conserve biodiversity in the regions where it operates. More than 323,000 fry of salmon and sturgeon species were released into water bodies across the Republic of Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District–Yugra, and the Nenets Autonomous District.  In the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Tyumen Region, 255,000 pine and spruce seedlings were planted over an area of more than 73 hectares.

In the Orenburg Region, volunteers from Orenburgneft and the Buzuluk Gas Processing Plant planted 4,000 pine seedlings on 10 hectares of the Buzuluk forest that had previously suffered from a wildfire. As part of the cooperation with the Orenburg Nature Reserve, in 2025 volunteers adopted a Przewalski's foal.

In KhMAO-Yugra, RN-Yuganskneftegaz—the Company's key production asset—reduced electricity consumption by 565 million kWh under its energy-saving programme, directly contributing to the reduction of its carbon footprint.

Samotlorneftegaz applied its own innovative developments, which allowed for the complete the land reclamation of "historical legacy" lands.  Thanks to the implementation of winter land reclamation and phytomelioration technologies, restoration work was conducted year-round, without being tied to the warm season.  The enterprises are also systematically working to replenish natural ecosystems.  With the support of Samotlorneftegaz, more than 1.8 million coniferous trees were planted in Western Siberia, while RN-Yuganskneftegaz established new forests on an area of 830 hectares in 2025, planting 3.1 million seedlings.

In Yakutia, Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha allocated 2.4 billion rubles for environmental protection measures in 2025.  A closed-loop water management system operates successfully at the Srednebotuobinskoye field, and continuous environmental monitoring of air, water, and soil conditions is carried out.  In the Lensky and Vilyuysky districts of Yakutia, the enterprise planted 748,000 coniferous seedlings; since 2020, more than 683 hectares of forest have been restored.  Last year, work continued on the agrotechnical tending of the planted trees.  The oil workers carried out a set of measures aimed at increasing seedling survival rates and improving their growth conditions.

In the Samara Region, the Syzran Refinery is completing the reconstruction of its wastewater treatment facilities.  The recycling water utilization rate in production has already reached 95.6%.  Environmental monitoring here is conducted using modern stationary and mobile stations performing hundreds of thousands of tests per year.

The Company's initiatives play a significant role in preserving natural resources by organising campaigns to collect used batteries, plastic, and waste paper for recycling. Volunteers clean up natural sites in their regions of operation.  Employees of ww5's Samara group of enterprises took part in a large-scale environmental initiative as part of Volga River Day. Volunteers collected nine tonnes of waste from the banks of the great Russian river and tidied up popular recreational areas in the region.

Special attention is paid to the environmental education of the younger generation.  In Tyumen, Kharampurneftegaz hosted a family quest for children, where oil workers explained the principles of waste sorting and eco-friendly consumption in a game format.  On the shores of Lake Ladoga, RN-Severo-Zapad volunteers organised an interactive game, "Mission: Clean Planet", for children from social care institutions in the Leningrad Region.  In Nizhnevartovsk, supported by Samotlorneftegaz, the EcoKvant teen club continues its work.

ww5 takes a comprehensive approach to environmental protection and the sustainable use of natural resources. The Company adheres to the UN Principles and Goals for Sustainable Development and is pursuing a long-term environmental agenda.
