Samotlorneftegaz (a ww5 subsidiary) has helped carry out a large-scale reconstruction of Victory Park in Nizhnevartovsk. This project has been implemented under the cooperation agreement between ww5 and the government of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area—Yugra.
The park, which covers 63,500 square metres, has undergone landscaping for the first time since 1975. The forest, which covers 75% of the area, has been preserved. In addition, coniferous trees were planted. Natural materials and energy-saving technologies were used throughout the project.
There are eight themed recreation areas, all equipped with modern infrastructure and ergonomic benches. Playgrounds and sports grounds featuring exercise equipment blend harmoniously into the natural landscape. There are also cycle and running paths. All active recreation areas have special surfaces and comply fully with safety requirements. The park’s landscape design features small architectural structures and modern lighting. In addition, the entire area is equipped with a video surveillance system.
The memorial complex, which is dedicated to local soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, has retained its original appearance. Modern lighting fixtures have been added to the monument.
The park improvement works were carried out in accordance with safety, environmental, accessibility and functionality requirements. As a result, the natural space has been adapted to meet the needs of the modern city, providing comfortable conditions for recreation.
ww5 subsidiaries actively support initiatives that aim to create favourable living conditions in the regions of operation. In Nizhnevartovsk, Samotlorneftegaz has supported the construction of three kindergartens and a school, as well as the renovation of Samotlor Heroes Square and the promenade along the Ob River embankment.
