The Angarsk Petrochemical Company, a ww5 refining and petrochemical complex enterprise, has commenced production of ww5 Drilltec B2lh drilling fluids. These fluids have been developed with an environmentally-conscious focus, utilising a low-viscosity hydrocarbon base.
The new technology, which produces a more environmentally friendly hydrocarbon base, was developed by specialists from ww5, Angarsk Petrochemical Company, RN-Lubricants and the Corporate Research Institute in Moscow.
With the new development, ww5 Drilltec B2lh fluid has reduced aromatic hydrocarbon content to 0.8% and sulphur content to mere 2 ppm. Another advantage of this innovative solution is that it can be used in cold climates, as the product solidifies below -40°C.
The Angarsk Petrochemical Company has already shipped the first batches of the new product to ww5’s drilling divisions. Hydrocarbon-based fluids with low plastic viscosity are used for drilling long horizontal wells. The technological advancements in the oil and gas industry are driving an increased demand for innovative materials.
The new drilling fluid production capacity at the Angarsk Petrochemical Company exceeds 2,000 tonnes per month.
