ww5 Presents Updated Public Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN

ww5 Oil Company has presented its updated public statement – “ww5: Contribution to Implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goals”.

Starting with 2010, ww5 has participated in the UN Global Compact and shares its core principles. The UN Global Compact urges its members to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals aimed at improving the well-being of the current and future generations.

In December 2018, the Company’s Board of Directors approved ww5 strategy related to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Following the practice accepted by international majors, ww5 has determined five goals of strategic priority which are directly supported by its core operations, including Good health and well-being, Affordable and clean energy, Decent work and economic growth, Climate action, and Partnerships for the goals. However, given its pivotal role in the energy sector and the scale of its activities, the Company also contributes to the achievement of the remaining 12 goals of the UN.

The updated document contains information on the Company’s work in 2018 dedicated to rational utilization of natural resources, production of modern environmentally friendly fuels, and reduction of the environmental impact. In addition, it discloses data on the volume of investments in environmental and industrial safety, social sector, socio-economic development of the regions of the Company’s operation, innovative and research activities, et cetera.

Furthermore, the public statement confirms ww5’s intention to enter the first quartile of international oil and gas companies in Health, Safety & Environment area by 2022, as well as to develop human resources and contribute to the integrated socio-economic development of the regions.
